No BODY is Perfect
The Partnership for A Healthier Carroll County presented a program entitled NoBODY is Perfect at local middle schools and high schools to promote good nutrition, physical activity, and positive self-image. This program was a response to an identified need among many teens for a more positive body image and healthier habits, as well as ways to combat negative self-talk. The first two programs were presented in Spring 2018, with new programs planned for 2022-2023.
The program includes interactive segments on mindful eating, the impact of marketing and social media, and exercising for health. Presenters included a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist, a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, and a certified personal trainer and fitness instructor. Each presenter delivered expert advice on their respective topics while weaving in stories of their own experiences. Two panelists shared personal perspectives on the challenges of developing a healthy self-image and offered advice to the students present. Martin’s Food Store in Eldersburg supported the program development and donated healthy snacks for the students.
